Sapta Badri....Abode of Lord Vishnu.

After our Kumbh Mela trip, we proceeded toward Joshimath. As it was in the month of April, we couldn't visit Badri Visal as it was closed at that time. We visited these temples from Joshimath as our base. Most of the Badris are accessible by road except Bhavisya Badri and Dhyan Badri. One has to trek this temples.

Our Itinerarty:

Day1: Haridwar to Joshimath.

Day2: Visited Narsingha Badri temple in Joshimath and further moved to Pandukeswar (25km) to see Yog Badri. Returned back to Joshimath.

Day3: Joshimath> Saldhar> Bhavisya Badri (trek 6km) and then back to Joshimath.

Day4: Joshimath> Bridhha Badri (Animath village)> Helong> Urgam> Dhyan Badri. We returned Joshimath on the same day.

Day5: Joshimath> Karnaprayag> Adi Badri> Karnaprayag> Haridwar.

Our main object was to visit Bhavisya Badri. There is a myth that in near future the Temple of Badri visal will be inaccessible due to a severe landslide. After this incident the Bhavisya Badri will be worshipped as Badri Visal. Now this temple is in the jungles up in the hills from Saladhar 20 km from Joshimath. This place has some thing which I can't explain. One must visit to feel it.

On the way to Bhavisya badri we was accompanied by a mountain dog which guided us over the trail to reach the temple where no one was there to guide us.

The picture beside is of the temple of Bhavisya Badri. A simple one in between the woods of Himalayas. You can perform puja on your own because the gate is always open and no panditji is there to assist you.

The Bridhha Badri temple is situated in a small village called
Animath in between Joshimath and Helong. One can see the gate of the temple from the road. It is a very simple but well
maintained temple.

The picture beside is of Bridhha Badri.

Dhyan Badri is situated in the village of Urgam. Now the road upto Urgam is motorable. So, now one has to only trek 1 km to reach the temple.

There is another famous Kedar, the Kalpeswar only 2km from Urgam. One must not miss a chance to visit Kalpeswar.

The picture beside is of the temple of Dhyan Badri.

Adi is situated about 25 km from Karnaprayag, the confluence of Alakananda and Pindar Ganga.
The main Vishnu temple is situated in a complex of 14 temples. Now the complex is maintained by the ASI. The temples are being restored to their original condition. Very well maintained.

Here is picture of Adi Badri.
